  • Kumta- A quaint little town next to Karwar in Karnataka that is also my native place. Have fond memories of my childhood there. Spent all my summer vacations and participated in many festivities. The car festival (Rath yatra) is the most important festival and a landmark event. It entails people pulling the wagon on which the deity is kwpt. through the main street of the town. Spectators throw ripe bananas and water at the people pulling the wagon.   • The POOP story. #Ballestas island is full of millions of birds that generate tons of poop that has valuable minerals like potassium and phosporous. In fact a war was fought between Chile and Peru in the 19 th century for owning the poop. It used to be shipped as far as to Europe. Recently they dug up 5000 tons of this 'shit' as it stinks badly for a few kms !
